- Meeting Began at 5:15pm.
- Mr. Ditton applauded those who participated in the Jared Coones Run/Walk. It was very successful.
- Veteran’s Day
- Ms. Koenig is still planning and has a meeting on Friday to finalize a few things.
- She will need some help with odds and ends of the ceremony.
- Some of the members in the squadron have volunteered to help Ms. Koenig out.
- AAS Class
- It’s going well so far.
- They now have 6 members.
- New Projects
- 5K run for Ethiopian relief.
- Jubilee Café/ Lord’s Diner
- Helps cook breakfast for those less fortunate.
- Ronald McDonald House.
- While they don’t need us for decorations, they do need help with cooking and cleaning. Ms. Wappelhorst is gathering further information.
- New motto voted on and selected
- New motto is “Helping those in need, serving those who serve, honoring those who fought.”
- Suspense tracker (Tractor) is up and running. Meet your deadlines!
- Operation Squadron Pride
- We would like a squadron seal.
- Barnes and Ditton are going to look into creating one.

- Meeting Began at 5:17pm.
- The squadron discussed sending 4 people to ARCON
- No final verdict was reached.
- Mr. Ditton is going to talk to Area CC about the situation.
- Jared Coones Pumpkin Run/Walk
- The registration is now $30, and must be done before the race. (7:30am)
- We are planning on leaving at 6:30am on Saturday morning (Oct. 11th)
- We are currently collecting names for those interesting in participating. It is completely open to the Detachment.
- Mr. Ditton plans on being back to Lawrence by 11:00am at the latest.
- Squadron Motto
- The squadron motto deadline has been extended one week.
- We have decided that it needs to be professional.
- Christmas Present Project
- All are in agreement to do this service project.
- Suggestions for other projects
- Mr. Hufford mentioned a possible canned food drive through KU, and donating the proceeds to a cancer oriented organization.
- He is finding out more information in regards to the project, and will inform the squadron if it’s possible at a later date.
- Mr. Hufford discussed wanting at least 5 candidates in order to have a class.

- Meeting began at 5:15pm.
- We began discussing the travel details for attending “Race for the Cure”.
- Mr. Ditton discussed his expectations for AAS members in the squadron due to a lack of accountability.
- We are expected to be involved, meet suspenses, and communicate.
- An expectation agreement form was passed out and signed by all, confirming their understanding of Mr. Ditton’s expectations.
- If you were absent from the meeting, (excused or unexcused) you will need to read and sign the form. They will be in the absent members’ boxes. The suspense for signing the sheet is Tuesday, September 30th. Please place them in Mr. Schmidt’s box.
- OSP (Operation Squadron Pride)
- We have decided that as Ennis C. Whitehead Squadron, we need to be proud of who we are.
- We are creating a motto, a shield, a pennant, t-shirts, and holding morale events in order to boost the pride of our organization.
- Each member is responsible for coming up with a squadron motto, and emailing it Mr. Ditton. The suspense for this is the 3rd of October, 2008.
- We voted on a name for the Ennis C. Whitehead Squadron due to the full accountability of the meeting.
- We are now the Ennis C. Whitehead Squadron Peg legs!
- We are also beginning to work on an AAS corner in the TAR. This will include a group photo, along with our shield, and pennant.
- Bylaws
- 4 resolutions were proposed to amend the bylaws.
- Resolution 1: Formal amendments must be written in order to change the bylaws. – Passed
- Resolution 2: Veteran’s Day will no longer be a requirement to be fulfilled by AAS, as stated in the original bylaws. – Passed
- Resolution 3: Throughout the bylaws, the Director of Operations title will now be changed to Operations Officer. – Passed
- Resolution 4: Continuity will now be mandatory and standardized, and can be reviewed by the Information Manager at any time, as long as 2 weeks notice has been given. – Passed
- 4 resolutions were proposed to amend the bylaws.
- We discussed our expectations for the upcoming candidate class. Mr. Hufford conveyed some of his thoughts and plans for this semester’s class.
- ARCON is going to be $100 per person, excluding travel.
- Veteran’s Day is the same weekend as ARCON.
- We tabled the discussion, and will attend to it at a later date.

- AAS is opening up the event to the entire detachment.
- It is going to be a $20 sign up fee.

- Meeting began at 5:15pm.
- ARCON will be held on the weekend of September 7th-9th. Details for registration and costs are still being finalized.
- All members discussed their ideas for the JNP.
- C/Rogers: Walk for Ovarian Cancer.
- C/Wiggin: Relay for life, Dream factory.
- C/Koenig: Race for the Cure.
- C/Wappelhorst: Ronald McDonald House.
- Capt. Edmonds: Cancer Action
- C/Ditton: Jared Coones Pumpkin Run/walk.
- We voted and narrowed it down to four options.
- Jared Coones Pumpkin Run/walk.
- October 11, 2008. It is a 5K run in which profits go to cancer research and helping families affected by the disease.
- Race for the Cure.
- We will be volunteering in Wichita on Friday September 26th, and Saturday, September 27th. Our squadron will be working with the operational side of the race in possibly handing out water bottles, guarding roads, and helping with the finish line.
- We will most likely be staying at C/Wappelhorst’s home, and will discuss details as the date gets closer.
- Cancer Action
- This is a website offering many volunteer opportunities to help fight cancer.
- Ronald McDonald House.
- Miscellaneous tasks at the Ronald McDonald House will be opportunistic for volunteer hours.
- We are beginning to collect the tabs from cans in order to raise money towards combating cancer.

- Meeting Started at 5:07pm.
- All officers discussed their continuity and how they were feeling with their new positions.
- C/Ditton brought up the Veteran’s Day activity.
- We are going to start planning soon.
- We assigned a new financial manager due to C/Krogmann leaving the Squadron.
- Barnes is taking on the position as a part of his Director of Support job.
- We discussed each person’s goals for AAS
- Some of the goals were: more candidates, more activities, win more awards, an increase in JNP and service hours, better attendance, more public exposure, a greater focus on service, and better communication.
- C/Keonig brought up the issue of updating the bylaws.
- We are going to hold a specific meeting for updating them.
- We began to brainstorm some ideas for the JNP.
- Some of the ideas include: Cancer run, help other cancer organizations, and Ronald McDonald house.
- C/Ditton brought up an idea to have a joint project with Mizzou, possibly a competition to raise money.
- C/Schmidt and C/Hufford discussed the paperwork for the newly initiated members.
